Notice: GeekPress is back up and running, thanks to Paul! It's still a not-so-serious tech news blog, but the format is significantly looser. Diana, having given up programming for philosophy, has her own philosophical blog NoodleFood. More of her work can be found at DianaHsieh.com.

This very visually-appealing Flash game is a bit of a math puzzle. Wired says that they know how to win. Do you?
If I don't figure it out tonight, I'm sure that Paul (being the MIT math geek that he is) will tease me about it tomorrow!

You Can Win Pearls Before Swine by MysteriousStranger 7:49:55 am mst / 6 February 2001 / # 1 |
After several games I did luck into the solution. I tried it a second time and it worked again. However, I shouldn't have won. It would have been very easy for the game to beat me. It feel like the programmed in the solution. There may be a pattern that the game follows that allows you to win but, I still haven't figured it out.

Okay. Here it is.
The point is, never to let him leave you with two rows of two or three pearls each or with an one-two-three-combination.
So: A good start is to take two pearls from the last row, so there is one pearl left in that row.
No matter what he does next, force him into one of the constellations described above.
The rest is easy!!!
