Notice: GeekPress is back up and running, thanks to Paul! It's still a not-so-serious tech news blog, but the format is significantly looser. Diana, having given up programming for philosophy, has her own philosophical blog NoodleFood. More of her work can be found at DianaHsieh.com.

Scott Rosenberg argues that Wall Street analysts are still way off the mark, this time in their dire, silly predictions about Yahoo.
As he says, if they were so wildly-off base in their global optimism about the internet, then why should we trust their new-found global pessimism?

When I read the quotes from "Anthony Capiello", I keep hearing the voice of "Fat Tony" from the Simpsons...

Two men in New York have been charged with using the internet to adopt the identities of some billionaires (including Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen), then looting their bank accounts. Their (not implausible) theory was that the billionaires would be unlikely to notice a discrepancy of a mere $1 million here and there. The thieves got caught when they became too greedy and attempted to transfer $10 million at once. (Link via Techdirt.)
I think I'll be checking my bank statements carefully this month, in case someone tries to steal a few nickels from me...
