| Two men in New York have been charged with using the internet to adopt the identities of some billionaires (including Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen), then looting their bank accounts. Their (not implausible) theory was that the billionaires would be unlikely to notice a discrepancy of a mere $1 million here and there. The thieves got caught when they became too greedy and attempted to transfer $10 million at once. (Link via Techdirt.) |
