The new AudioRequest CD player will let you play a CD once, then record the entire contents onto its hard drive. That way, you can play it again whenever you want even if the original disc has been lost or lent out. The unit will store either 325 or 500 hours of music, and also plays MP3s.
It won't be long before hackers find ways to increase the storage space.

Researchers at SUNY Buffalo have developed software that can take handwriting samples and identify the author.
Of course, the accuracy depends on the training samples used as well as the algorithm. I anticipate that the next natural extension of this idea for the criminally minded will be a computer system that helps bad guys forge another person's handwriting...
Police radios can trigger positive breath test

A former policeman in the UK reveals that their police radio handsets can trigger a false positive on the alcohol breathalyzers. Policemen would then use it to inconvenience obnoxious or belligerent drivers, even if later tests done at the station showed their blood alcohol levels were still legal.
