The latest fashion craze among young South Korean businessmen is the Bill Gates look. Many are moving away from button-down suits to rumpled casual clothes in hopes that they too will become rich. One would-be internet millionaire says that he "likes to let several days pass without shampooing, to match what he calls Gates's 'natural oily look.'"
I guess I was fashionable long before it became cool!

University of Michigan Professor John Laird believes that one of the best ways to develop human-level artificial intelligence is through computer gaming. One of his projects is an intelligent Quakebot that acts as an opponent to the human player in the Quake game. The bot will try to defeat the human player by anticipating his or her moves and reacting accordingly.
It will be especially interesting to see whether a human player can consistently deceive the bot, or whether the bot learns from its past mistakes.

The Register has managed to get their hands on some advance pictures of the XBox, which was supposed to be unveiled this Saturday in Vegas.
