| Music and movie companies have started adopting a different strategy to combat what they call piracy. They will begin monitoring traffic in and out of ISP's looking for anything that matches their profiles of copyrighted material, then send warning messages to the ISP's to contact the offending users to remove the disputed files. |
| This "solution" is bound to fail, because it will be too easy for file traders to circumvent. As the article points out, even simple encryption renders the system useless. |
